Dry spell over

Rostrevor 6-17 Loughinisland 2-7

It is the turn of the league and after a few recent narrow defeats The Reds were itching to get a few points on the table.

Loughinisland certainly have not been playing the football this year they have been accustomed to, but The Reds also know no team is to be taken for granted in this competitive Intermediate League.

It took Rostrevor a good 15 mins to get settled and true to form kicked wide after wide whilst Loughinisland converted their scores when they got the chance. These chances were few and far between as the defensive work from the half back line of Danielle “Huggy” Sherry and Siobhan “Question” Magee was top notch and too strong for Island to deal with.

Although at half time you would have thought the score line reflected a very different game with the Reds only leading 2-5 to 1-3.

The half time whistle came at the right time as clearly the shooting boots had been hiding in the changing rooms and after some positive and encouraging words from the management The Reds came out in the second half and blew Lisland out of the water popping over 4-11. Cristin Brown proved too difficult for the L’island defence and linked up superbly with her U17 counterpart and buddy Sasha “Netball Hands” Boyle to bang in 3 goals (could have been 4!!)

It was super for the girls to get a win after 3 narrow defeats in a row and with 18 wides being kicked (according to our chief of stats) the scoreline could have been even more.

“Good teams become great ones when the members trust each enough to surrender the “me” for the “we”. #superreds

Thanks again to Louis for some snaps of the win!
