U-12 League

An Riocht (2-3) V Rostrevor (3-6) 14.04.19

It was a windswept Dunavil pitch and a very tenacious An Riocht team that gave the young reds continuous problems during this round 4 game on Sunday morning.

Playing with the wind in the first half An Riocht had the reds under pressure straight from the throw in only for great defending by Ryan Magee and the excellent Aaron Doyle we could have been in serious trouble.

Rostrevor managed to tag 1-1 in the first half with a goal through Finn Morgan Longfield. An Riocht where full value of their half time lead of 2-3 to 1-1.

Playing with the breeze in the second half appeared to be nearly as hard as playing into the breeze in the first. Rostrevor couldn’t show the fluidity that they had shown in passed games due to their opponents and miss judging the breeze.

Some great points and a goal from Eoin Rocks settled the nerves a bit for the Rostrevor supporters (and mentors) and in the final throws of the game when An Riocht rattled the post Rostrevor went down the field to score 2 quick goals by Johnny Devlin that pulled the reds over the line to maintain our winning run.

Full credit to a very good An Riocht team but also well done to the young reds who showed the type of spirit that is required when things are not going your way to squeeze out a result.

Our next league game is in Ballyholland on Wednesday 24th April. Big game! 🔴⚫️
